Up on the Cloud No. 9 !!

The Parliamentary  committee headed by Dr. V Maitreyan submitted its report to bolster the commercial viability of India’s Space expertise on October 23rd in Rajya Sabha. The recent accomplishments by the country through Chandrayaan-1 opens up the arena for ‘Techno-Politics’, a term coined quite recently after 123 Agreement and funds were sanctioned for Chandrayaan-2, by UPA Government. It is imperative to understand the role of Antrix, the Commercial arm of ISRO dealing in exploring the profit avenues through India’s space missions.

As one of the most ‘remunerative’ (as Latin would like to call) businesses , Space could add a lot to our forex kitty. Our recent space explorations have been successful as well the all ‘amicable’ image of ours would further boost our chances of ‘making it big’ in the space business. The race is limited with only a few big players, using their technology and clout to bag the projects.

Space Expertise is now not only a tool to emphasise the skill hegemony of a country but rather a necessity. Telecom , Weather and a host of other activities are dependent on satellites and their ancilliaries.

Its one of the highly lucrative businesses that can let economies survive on its own. In one of the most famous adages a german economist once said , “ All we need is to carry an Airbus and a Boeing on our board, the rest will be taken care of(sic).” ( Prompting towards the highly restricted and profitable business of airline manufacturing.)

So for so good, we Indians can enjoy our stay on this Cloud No.09, before we move a step(s) further and the remixed version Cloud no.99 hits the deck!!
